Has anyone else been doing so much more online shopping recently? Charlotte’s first birthday is next week and all of her gifts were delivered right to our doorstep. We even ordered her cake online this year by going back and forth with the designer via email. During part of my birthday search, I discovered Kiwico and had to jump right in!

First of all, as an elementary teacher I can be pretty picky when it comes to spending money on children’s toys and educational materials. KiwiCo crates come in 8 age ranges, from 0 all the way up to 104. ;) Depending on the age, crates ship every month or every other month. I ordered Charlotte the 0-24 month “Panda Crate” option that ships every other month.
The boxes are then further broken down into developmentally appropriate themes based on age. This puts Charlotte right on the edge of the “Explore With Me” crates: Your little explorer is ready to roll (not to mention sit, crawl, and grab). Toys that play with concepts like over, under, and through will help them learn spatial awareness skills and explore their world.
KiwiCo Panda Crate Chat With Me
Charlotte’s first box arrived and it was the “Chat With Me” crate, designed to explore communication, language development, and baby sign language. My little ham was more than happy to play with the box, so we spent some time doing that first.
The box came neatly packed, but of course didn’t stay that way for long!
After taking every single thing out of the box and handing it to me, Charlotte gravitated toward the stuffed cow. It has a little mooooo noise inside when you shake it and she was so surprised!
Around this time, big brother came over to see what we were up to with all the giggling. He loved the little truck and all the wooden animals. I’ve actually ordered a Koala Crate for him, but it hasn’t arrived yet.
Educational Difference
Here’s where I really fall in love with KiwiCo… each crate comes packed with educational resources for parents. There are activity cards with developmental activities both with and without the toys included in the crate.
For example, the card that goes with the wooden animals suggests lining them up from smallest to largest, stacking them on top of each other in a tower, taking turns making the noises, etc. For someone like my husband who doesn’t have a degree in education and hasn’t been around many children other than our own, the ideas are truly great ways to help with connect with and nurture our kiddos.
