We’re celebrating the first day of fall {my favorite season!} with a throwback of Carter’s previous fall projects. I seriously cannot handle how cute these little trees are as they grew with him each year.
As always, I suggest using ink pads instead of paint because the ink really shows the fine details and is less likely to smear. For the first year or so, footprints are much easier to capture because babies tend to close their hands in to fists instead of prints. After that, handprints can be captured just as easily.
First we used Carter’s foot and hands for the bottom left tree. To mix it up the following year, we tried a few different options for the leaves. Finger prints didn’t quite give the desired effect for leaf dots, so we opted to use qtips instead. He dabbed the qtips in the ink pad and then dotted them on his trees. Bonus points: it kept him busy quite a long time!
Directions for the top hand silhouette tree are in this post.

If your kiddos (or you!) are feeling crafty, you can letter these yourselves. Want to save time?Visit my design shop and grab the templates for yourself. They aren’t personalized with a date so you can use them over and over as many times as needed at home or school.
