Happy first day of spring! We’re celebrating with a throwback of handprint and footprint art from Carter’s first and second spring.
If you haven’t seen my previous craft posts, we have been making these together since Carter was born. I make multiple copies of each one– one for our living room and one for each set of grandparents. I bought simple white 8×10 picture frames for everyone and this is an easy way to update them throughout the year. They make great gifts for the grandparents each holiday!
As always, I suggest using ink pads instead of paint because the ink really shows the fine details and is less likely to smear. For the first year or so, footprints are much easier to capture because babies tend to close their hands in to fists instead of prints. After that, handprints can be captured just as easily.

If your kiddos (or you!) are feeling crafty, you can draw or letter these yourselves. In a pinch or working with littles who can’t do that part yet? Visit my design shop and grab the templates for yourself. They aren’t personalized with a date so you can use them over and over as many times as needed at home or school. If you make them, be sure to share. I can’t wait to see your creations!
