Well, my baby did it. He turned into a ONE year old! 😉 I had so much fun putting together his nautical first birthday party.
He woke up very excited to be turning one. We had his one year old pictures and cake smash schedule for his actual birthday. The little stinker took a while to warm up, so we didn’t get any good pictures in his actual birthday outfit, except for this one which we took at home before we left.
But halfway through his session with Jennifer Mae Photography, he warmed right up. He had a blast playing with his birthday balloons.
But his favorite part was probably his first birthday smash cake. I love how excited he was to get his hands on that cake!
Things escalated quickly. It took THREE baths to get him clean!
We did a reshoot a few days later to get pictures of him in his actual birthday outfit. The lighting wasn’t as good that day, but he did such a better job!
He loves his boats!
Always exploring.
Now it’s time to party! I stuck with the nautical theme like we did in his nursery.
I hung up all of his pictures from our monthly photoshoots. It was so fun seeing them side by side.
A few more details–
Favor bags with Chips Ahoy, Lifesavers, and salt water taffy.
Of course there was more cake.
Blue lemonade served as ocean water, complete with bobbers.
We kept things easy and went with a catered taco bar, at Captain Carter’s request of course. He loves Chuy’s!
After we ate, it was time for presents. Carter really, really loves opening cards!
He was a little overwhelmed, but Daddy did a great job helping.
Again with his fingers. So cute!
He loved his zoo from Mommy!
Then it was time for more birthday cake. After the way his cake smash birthday session had gone earlier in the week, I was prepared for a huge mess. He actually was pretty neat this time though! He was pretty busy watching everyone else eat and begging ice cream from me.
And just like that, we are off and on our way to TWO!
